COLLAGEN INJECTIONS

The way your skin looks is directly related to the way your skin is supported. Collagen injections have been used for more than a decade to treat facial "expression" lines, wrinkles, acne scars and other soft tissue deficiencies.

The treatments take place one month after the required skin test. The skin test is a simple test in your forearm to determine if you are sensitive to Zyderm or Zyplast collagen. Results from collagen replacement therapy are immediate and touch-up treatments are usually needed twice a year to maintain a smooth complexion.

Indications for using collagen:

• frown lines (glabellar lines)
• acne scars
• smokers lines (perioral lines)
• crows feet (periorbital lines)
• facial scars
• deep smile lines (nasolabial folds)

Collagen replacement therapy helps to get rid of lines on the surface of the skin by supplementing the collagen under the skin. Just like natural collagen, collagen replacement therapy begins to lose its form and will eventually wear down. Full correction occurs and is maintained only with a series of treatments. In most cases, a skin test, to test for allergies to the collagen (2-3% of patients will have an allergy), is done 30 days prior to undergoing treatment.

We also use Cosmoplast which is human derived collagen product. Cosmoplast does not require skin testing. All collagen products used are supplied by Inamed Corportation.
